BOTHASTED SCHOOL QUIZ PROJECT

On September 28, 2005, BOTHASTED sponsored its first school science quiz. It was held at the University of Botswana. Ten senior secondary schools participated. And these were New Era, Westwood, Al-Nur, Rainbow, Learning Center, Legae Academy, and Maruapula, all from Gaborone and Kagiso from Ramotswa and Crescent from Lobatse.

BOTHASTED is now making this a permanent event and this is scheduled for September 27, 2006 in Gaborone. Competing secondary schools will also be required to write essays on a topical issue. The two successful teams will debate on the topic. Click here for details....

The principle objective behind the school quiz is to generate interest in science and related matters among young minds. It is hoped that this way young people will be encouraged to take up science and technology as a career. Science has contributed immensely to the economies of countries through discoveries and innovations. And it is BOTHASTED’s desire that Botswana will also be an active contributor in innovation and technology.
